Microchipping

What is microchipping?
A microchip is a small, permanent form of identification that is placed just under your pet’s skin, between the shoulder blades. Each microchip has a unique number that is linked to your contact details in a secure database.
If your pet ever goes missing and is brought to a veterinary clinic or to the local ranger, the microchip can be scanned so you can be contacted quickly. Your personal details are kept private and are not accessible to the public.
When is microchipping done?
Microchipping is commonly performed when pets are puppies or kittens and is a quick procedure that most animals tolerate very well.
Local requirements
Microchipping is a Busselton Council requirement for all dogs and cats by 12 weeks of age. If you’re unsure whether your pet is microchipped or need help updating your details, we’re always happy to assist.
